Let’s learn and have fun while doing it!

I offer 1:1 and small-group instruction that is highly individualized and curated for the students sitting in front of me. Whether your child has a diagnosed learning difference or simply needs a bit of assistance, I can help. And check out my book club, which fosters fluency and comprehension, and offers an opportunity for children to socialize over great literature!

I take the time to truly get to know my students and understand their strengths and interests. With this in mind, I develop lessons that will address learners' needs and incorporate tasks that make them feel successful and motivated.

Reading

Using an Orton-Gillingham approach, I break down the English language into its most basic parts and help demystify the reading process. I will equip your child with effective strategies to decode words, read with enhanced fluency, and master a wide range of comprehension tasks. Students receive customized stories based on their current reading level and topics of interest, which helps generate student buy-in and makes reading much more fun!

Writing

Writing is the single hardest academic skillset to master, since it recruits many different cognitive processes. It's no wonder that so many students struggle with the writing process! Therefore, I use an evidence-based and systematic way to teach writing called SRSD (Self Regulated Strategy Development), in combination with The Writing Revolution. Using explicit instruction, students are given the opportunity to master the skills that are critical to writing success, while developing the capacity to effectively regulate themselves as they navigate the writing process.

Math

I believe that the key to mathematics is making it relevant to the world we live in and couching math problems in real world context. Using a Singapore-based approach, I move students through the concrete, pictorial, and abstract phases of math instruction, ensuring an authentic conceptual understanding and moving away from rote memorization. I encourage students to see math all around them and understand the many ways that mathematics impacts our daily lives.

Executive Functioning

I like to think of executive functioning as our brain’s control center, which impacts all of our daily activities, including academics. Skills involved in executive functioning include planning, organization, self-regulation, problem solving, and more. Through extensive modeling and explicit instruction, I can help your children develop and improve the executive functioning skills they need to be academically successful.
